Welcome to The Gentleman Farmer!

We have sold out for the 2013 CSA! Please e-mail Jessica@gentleman-farmer.com to add your name to the wait list. Changed minds do happen!

To get to know our CSA offerings please see our CSA Guide.

Our farm began as a Green family experiment in the fall of 2009 when we decided to take an active role in the local food movement. Inspired by British chef/farmer/activist Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall we considered a life change that would benefit our entire family. The CRAFT Stateline Farm Beginnings class held by Angelic Organics Learning Center was our starting point. Throughout that winter we met with 30 other prospective farmers, in a small drafty barn heated only by a small stove and our combined excitement.

In the summer of 2010...

season 2010 and 2011 plotwe initiated a pilot season on 1/3rd of an acre, in Barrington, 35 miles outside of Chicago. With the help of family, friends and great weather we successfully made it through a growing season providing vegetables to 15 different families.

Today we grow our crops on 2 acres of land and offer a 20 week vegetable CSA, and sell at the Logan Square Farmer's market

We practice organically: Our vegetables are grown from organic seed, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides - just plain goodness and, yes, some holes in our Kale!

Our hens are pastured by day and protected in a hoop house by night. They have daily access to all the grass and insects nature can provide.

We love good food and know you do too. We're looking forward to growing with you!
